Welcome to the Countess Owners Association Web Site in our 23rd year. The Association is open to owners and others interested in the Countess range of cruising yachts.

  Diary of Events

• 2008 Diary Dates: Dry Meet and AGM on Sunday 9th March. June Rally on Saturday the 7th at Titchmarsh marina. September rally at West Mersea on Saturday the 13th.

  A 2008 South West Rally will be held over the weekend of 18th to 20th July. Draft plan is a night on the Tamar with BBQ then a night at Noss Mayo with sailing and socialising. Contact Maureen Kemp at maureenjk@talktalk.net or 01752 846532.

   

• A Solent Rally is planned for the Summer again. Details later. Please contact Tony Kerry if you wish to take part, especially if you would like to help organise the rally.
• The North West Rally will take place on the weekend of the Mersey river Festival in the Albert Dock, Liverpool. Further details from Geoff Lloyd at g.d.lloyd@talk21.com or 0151 327 5032.
• Proposed Bristol Channel COA Meet. If you live within range of the Bristol Channel and would be interested in meeting other COA members call Paul Metcalf on 01629 534652, who will try to fix a date and venue.

  Reports of events

  The 2007 September Rally was held at Bradwell on the 15th with 7 boats and 22 members attending. Full details in the Autumn Countess News.         The 2007 June Rally was held on the 2nd of June at Suffolk Yacht Harbour. Seven boats and 25 members attended a most enjoyable rally.

  The 2008 East Coast Dry Meet was held at the usual venue (Margaretting, Essex) on Sunday 9th March. with 38 attendees including Ian Anderson. Among items covered in the programme were:

  Colvic Countess 33CC "Lucky Star II", sloop-rigged fin keel from 1988, lying in Monnickendam, Netherlands. Recently upgraded, well maintained and regularly used.  Re-engined with VW Marine 40-4 40hp diesel in 2003, with less than 80 hours.  Rigged for single-hand with lines back to cockpit and additional Meissner winches and line clutches.  Proctor mast and boom, many new lines, blocks and cars.  Furlex furler, all sails good or reasonable condition - main, spare main, genoa, spare genoa, storm jib.
  Well equipped for cruising: Furuno radar, Target SSB, Navtex, Lawrence anchor winch with 60m chain 10mm and Bruce 20kg anchor, spare anchor and VHF (plus spare antenna), Arimar 4 persons life raft (needs inspection), boarding ladder, dingy davits, three battery bank with isolator.   For Sale Countess 33 Fin Keel 'Anna Maria' This very well cared for Colvic Countess centre cockpit ketch was launched in 1995.  She is a heavy displacement yacht that sails beautifully and for the last 9 years has been cruised along the West Country coast and across the channel with her current owners although capable of going further afield.  She is well equipped with Autohelm ST50 instruments that are set up to talk to each other and include repeaters at the chart table, Radar and GPS amongst others.  Sails include a lightly used cruising chute, mizzen staysail and storm gib and both main and mizzen sails are set up with sail bags and lazy jack system.  She has a 38hp Ford Watamota engine, giving piece of mind in any condition. Built to sleep 7 with a double aft cabin, double v berth forward and a large single sea berth in the slight stoop through, there are two additional single berths in the saloon.  She has had a recent refit to the aft cabin, has a forward head with shower, an aft head and a spacious saloon.  All mod cons are on board including hot water, heating, fridge, 240v supply, Mastervolt battery charger and monitor and Forgen wind generator.  She also has a cockpit tent, which is invaluable with the UK’s variable weather.See picture below.   FOR SALE "ADELPHIA"  COUNTESS 33

    Adelphia is a sloop rigged Countess 33 with bilge keels and was built by McCrossan Marine in 1996. She had a new Volvo 40hp engine installed in 2006 and this together with a 6hp bow thruster, makes her easy to manoeuvre.

    She has a slab reefing main with lazy jacks and bag combined with a roller reefing genoa. She is equipped with Lewmar winches and has a Spinnaker which has never been used.

    The interior is beautifully finished in beige upholstery and mahogany. She has two seperate heads with W.C and sink.

    Instruments are Silva depth sounder, log and speed with Furuno GPS.

    My father bought Adelphia in 1998 and she has been in our family ever since. She has been very well cared for and it is only due to health problems, that she is now up for sale. £49,500. See picture below
